It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Cowin-Buga, age 78, a resident of Round Lake Beach on January 30, 2024 at her home.
Born on December 7, 1945, in Chicago, Susan lived a life that touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her grandchildren, in particular, held a special place in her heart, and the love she showered upon them created lasting memories that will be cherished forever.
Susan is survived by her husband of 40 years, Vito, whom she married on September 3, 1983 in Chicago; her children, Cherie (Peter) Govis of Skokie, and Nicole (Matthew) Giovenco of Grayslake; her grandchildren, Rebecca (Chistopher) Neihengen of Savoy, Elijah Murria, Elisabeth Govis, Demetra Govis, and Peter James Govis; her great grandsons, Lucas and James Neihengen; and her siblings, Ray Cowin of Bartlett and Madeline Smith of Wheaton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Irene Cowin.
Professionally, Susan dedicated many years to a career in customer service at Vienna and Topco. Her unwavering commitment to helping others made her an invaluable asset in her workplace, where she was known for her competence and empathy. Colleagues admired her work ethic, and customers often sought her out for her exceptional service.
Susan was a woman of strength and determination. Her resilience in the face of challenges and her stubborn spirit were sources of inspiration to those around her. Many sought her guidance and advice; drawn to the well of wisdom that she had accumulated throughout her rich and diverse life experiences.
In her memory, let us celebrate a life well-lived and honor the legacy of a remarkable woman. Susan will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her spirit lives on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate to have shared in her journey.
May she rest in eternal peace.
