Ginny L. Abruzzo, 67, a long-time resident of Libertyville, IL, passed away March 26, 2022 after a fierce and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born December 2, 1954 in Lake Forest, IL to Raymond and Bette Michaels.
She retired in March 2021 after 25+ years as a dedicated employee of the Health Information Management team at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. She enjoyed many simple pleasures in life which included playing with her dog Ellie, hummingbird watching, an early morning coffee, and an evening glass of wine. She loved the outdoors, wildlife, and Chicago sports teams. Most summer days she could be found tending to her garden, her favorite summertime passion.
Her greatest joys in life were watching her grandchildren and garden grow. Anyone who knew Ginny was touched by her patience, ability to listen, and positivity. She loved everyone deeply and unconditionally, and we take comfort in knowing that Ginny is now at peace and free of pain.
Ginny is survived by her husband of almost 42 years, Joseph Abruzzo, her children Jessie Abruzzo, Joey Abruzzo, and Jordan (Hayley) Abruzzo, her grandchildren Cecelia, Aiden, and Madelyn, and her siblings Ron Michaels, Diane (Dwight) Schlicting, and Don (Claudia) Michaels. She was preceded in death by her parents.
All funeral arrangements were privately held and entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. For more information, please call (847) 223-8122 or visit www.StrangFuneral.org.
